Wolves Vs Doncaster Preview (essentially one massive apologie)Plus Amazing Stock Business Photos!
By: Toby | April 29th, 2009
Hello there, long time no see and everything.
Well to start off I’ll say a sorry for buggering off for what seems like a comprisable age for this site considering only my life had gone on a bit of a bender over the last month, and I’ve only just today managed to wrestle the steering wheel of life back onto the road of success…in a very confusing metaphor. First off it was the business end of University, all of a sudden lectures who haven’t been bothered to learn your name all year are demanding one on one sessions to “bat some ideas around” and all of them seem to think their subject is more important than the last, I had a combined 10,000 words to write in a week. I got a bit stressed about that. Secondly I managed to lose my job. Through no fault of my own I might add, the place I work went under, not much I could have done about that, but it did mean that my only source of income had disappeared and I had bills to pay, and rent, and I needed to somehow pull a deposit for a new house out of the air from nowhere. All while trying to find a job in Birmingham, in the middle of moneygedden which apparently is really really hard…. This too got me quite stressed. And finally I started getting vertigo attacks, meaning that if I stood up I promptly found myself on the floor again.
All of this is why I’ve only really posted anything more than the odd video or a paragraph over the last week or so! I feel like I’ve been neglecting you all terribly. I’m a bad blogger indeed.
So, it’s quite good that this week I’ve handed in my essays (a week early I may add), I’ve been to the doctor, been diagnosed with stress induced inner ear imbalance (vertigo to us humans) and been given some fantastic drugs for all of that and today I have had the wonderful phone call to tell me that I have got a job! I’VE GOT A JOB! In the middle of moneygedden I’ve managed to find work in Birmingham. It’s in the Imax and Thinktank if any of you fancy it over the summer to point at me trying to get kids interested in science or handing out 3D glasses. Believe it or not this signals a career progression for me. I’m so excited, the Imax is probably the most awesome cinema in the midlands, there will be nowhere better to see Transformers 2.
So! As it is then I’m on the mend. And this week we’ve got a bit of a nothing game really, we’ve already won the league so really I think the only thing to say about this one is that whatever the result I’ll echo the sentiment of the club in saying stay off the pitch, give the players their moment. If you hear any chants of “on the pitch”, resoundly boo and berate.
Elsewhere Birmingham will be up if they win, but have got a task on their hands away to Reading, who have a slim chance of their own of going up automatically. Sheffield united could also stand a chance of automatic promotion going as they do to Crystal Palace where I’m sure Neil Warnock will field his strongest possible side…
But yes, cheers for sticking with me and amusing yourselves in the comments box, I promise renewed vigour and all of that kind of stuff! Onwards to the Premiership! And a summer’s worth of ridiculous transfer speculation!!
Huzzah!
Tarra-a-bit!

Good to have you back Toby! I’m fairly new to this ‘offside’ blog but i know wolves on tinternet wouldn’t be the same without your input.
Are you gonna volunteer to hand out the flags for a free match ticket? You did say you were ticketless day ya.Posted from

p.s. not that you need cheering up, probably the opposite lol, but i had an email this week directing me to a youtube vid called ‘this little baggie’ appears to have done the rounds so you may have seen it-i thought it quite amusing though.

Brilliant as always Toby, delighted to hear you’ve got a job as well mate!
Can Wolves fans quantify how happy they are that WBA are going down and that you’re going up?

It’s always good to see WBA struggle, but a little bit of me did want to play them in Premiership you know? It’s been ages since we’ve had an evenly matched Derby.
Dave John, I’d love to get a free ticket but I’m starting the new job on Friday/Saturday and Sunday, so I can’t with all the good will in the world, I need to pay those bills….and buy a ps3 to celebrate…oh my.

Good to hear you’re on the up and up. If I’m ever in Brum and go to the Imax for Transformers or whatever else is on there and I see someone with a Toby namebadge, I’ll give you a pat on the back – so bear that in mind before you call security…

sounds like you had an identical end to the academic year as myself toby. Other than i was writing a music blog at the time. brilliant when i all works out though isn’t it.
btw if you get a ps3, buy call of duty modern warfare, not world at war if you like that kinda thing. brilliant game.Posted from

Cracking, I’ll look into it. I’m going to desert PES for the first time in 7 years and get Fifa… I feel dirty to say it but…it’s a better game this year. ARGH I hate myself already.
Long shot, but if anyone of you has one of these hugely expensive joy machines I’ll have to get myself online and we’ll have to have a razz. You can pick up fifa 2009 second hand for like ÂŁ16 in places….imagine the late night tournaments. It’s technically gonna be a joint thing with the missus…but I’m sure she won’t mind. Cough. Hum.

Im online so i’ll give you a game sometime. I’ve only got fifa 08 but i’ll get 09 for a laugh. Can’t wait for fifa 10 so we can see our beloved team in it.

Welcome back, Toby. My working days have been a bit longer without your blog to waste time on.
And back to Lord Byron – he did say he didn’t have much time for his countrymen but it was widely unreported that he also said, “But Wolves fans are alright sometimes” – http://www.wolves.co.uk/page/News/0,,10307~1643112,00.html

Congrats on the new job, Toby. Hope that your 10,000 words of wisdom are also well received. If your university musings are half as well written as your blogg, then you’re assured a first. The most pertinant question is what the hell are you going to use a degree in English lit. for??? Good luck mate and don’t forget to start a a poll about the amount of funds spent by MM and Moxley and perhaps the new players coming in over the summer. Onwards and Upwards. Rob

Essentially Rob I love reading and I love talking about books…so if it all goes right I’ll be an English Lit teacher, the only job where I think you get paid to do that for a living. Failing that I’ll be a primary school teacher. I’d rather cheese grater my face than teach GSCE English. I don’t know if you can class it as teaching, it’s just taking abuse from immature spots for 9 hours a day!

Go for the primary angle, Toby. I know from personal experience (I’ve got two kids in primary school) that male teachers are like gold dust. You are treated like a celebrity by kids, fellow teachers and mums alike.

I keep on hearing this, it’s rapidly becoming my first choice, I guess if I can make it through the next couple of months working with Kids in the thinktank (one of those physical science places)I’ll know where I’m going with this degree. Years extra teachers training and a primary school placement might be the way forward!

I feel your pain. I’d spent the first week back at bournemouth uni relaxin on the beach then it occurred to me that if i want it to continue i definitely had to hand in a few essays and spent a week in the library boffin it up.
Bit disappointed with the new shirt, looks like whoever designs it is getting lazy. The biggest issue for us this weekend is definitely to keep the fans off the pitch to let the players have their moment. Now onwards to revision. Happy daysPosted from
