Wolves Vs Cardiff – Match Preview
By: Toby | February 19th, 2009
It’s first verses fifth on Sunday and never has a league table hidden the truth more than the one which currently stares back at us prior to this game. On current form, it’d be a case of roles reversed, or at the very least, if Cardiff had played all their games owed to them, they could very well be in the Automatic promotion places. It seemed unlikely, not really having a player that’s stood out for me all season, but that’s what football is about, the team, and they’ve got a hell of a team at the moment.
Managed by a former Wolves boss, with a former Wolves striker, Midfielder and Defender in their team, they have more than enough ex personnel to come back to haunt us, as if Elliott and Carl Cort can come back to haunt us, then the prospect of Kennedy, Gypes and Bothroyd (however unlikely the latter may be) scoring against us means we’ll need to score three just to draw. It’s worrying, this is defiantly by any other terms a promotion six pointer, quite possibly more important than when we played Birmingham. In fact, it is more important, back then, we could have lost and remained top, now we need to win to stay top. It’s as simple as that.
The lads have had a week away from the doom and gloom of the press, which has taken the line that we’ve already pissed it all away, reminding us of the last time we did it, and just general misquoted articles of gloom mongering. So hopefully they’ll come back revived and ready for the fight. A bit of defensive ability might not go a miss for the team on a whole either while we’re at it. It seems as if we might see a slightly altered side for the game, but as we all know Mick tends to keep those details under wraps till the team sheets are announced, and even then they usually offer a few selections worth scratching your head over. I’d personally like to see a bit more of Kyel Reid, who’s looked pretty sharp whenever he’s been on the field.
Game predictions? As my girlfriend is a born and bred Cardiffian it’d be very hard for me to live with her should they beat us. I’d like to win on Sunday, I really would, though on the same hand I’d take a draw against a very good side and considering our run, that’d be a good result with which we could build on in the coming weeks. So, sticking my neck out….2-1 cheeky late goal to seal it for the Wolves. Be prepared for an uneasy Sunday. Like the rest of the season to come, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.
Best of luck to the lads!

Also to explain the lack of a picture of Molineux in this post as per tradition, I thought I’d get one up of the Wolves crest, in a bit of a fingers up to the EPL lawyers who have ruined the lay out of this site!

We will win this.
we will be chewing our nails off at the end but 2-1 me thinks.
need to stay behind the lads now, need as many as poss inside the Golden Palace.
Lets hope for no trouble!!

I want a victory so I can stop hearing 1 win in X etc! Driving me mad. Although a draw would be respectable despite it almost certainly taking us off top spot in weeks to come with the games in hand.

The one win in X stat is annoying yet unavoidable, and it’s getting worse, yes, I think it’s time to put that one to bed on Sunday!

Have to say I can see us losing this one. But I’ve been wrong whenever I’ve predicted a win recently so perhaps it’ll work the other way this week. And I hate it when ex-players are in the opposition – you’re right, it’s always bad news.

Well lets hope your opposites theory pays off on Sunday!
