Wolves Vs Burnley – Match Preview
By: Toby | February 9th, 2009
Hello to you, no, don’t worry, you haven’t lost your mind, it is a Monday evening, not Friday, but I’m actually having a break this week and going on holiday. Kind of. Well I see it as a Holiday, I’m off to Cardiff with the lady friend and spending a few days down there meaning I’m having time off work, the cat’s been dropped off at the parents’ house and the phone isn’t being packed…meaning I can’t even check my emails. It may well be snowing when I get there but I’ll be damned if I don’t go and at least look at a beach and have a Mr Whippy ice cream. So you can guarantee that as soon as I step onto my train on Tuesday evening and until I get back on Saturday Wolves will probably sign a whole team on loan, Mick will resign and Kightly will get the Wolves crest tattooed on his forehead and I’ll be non the wiser.
They’ve already started doing it tonight with the news that Keogh has signed a new contract to remain at Wolves till 2011 I believe, which is fantastic. Boo that you bunch of illiterate knuckle dragging morons. Hell, if that technique is anything to go by they should have booed Mark Davies when they had the chance, maybe he’d have signed a contract instead of being a little weasel. So yes, I’ll apologise in advance if I miss anything amazing in the next few days, I’ll do a round up in due time, but feel free to keep the embers stoked in the comment box below while I’m gone!
Right then, to the game. And it’s off we go to Turf Moor to take on Burnley, who have a cracking squad and play some great football when they want to…so the perfect rebound team then. I can hear the collective groaning of Wolves fans across the globe. After that debacle of Coventry-gate last weekend what we really need is a win here, to steady the ship, and to hopefully get some points on the board before Cardiff come knocking. Luckily, as you can see with my nifty bit of picture editing (hah!), if there’s one team who’s having a worse run of things on the pitch at the moment it’s Burnley, four points in six as opposed to our mighty five. It really does once again highlight that our recent form is mid table/relegation fodder. Last weekend we were yet again helped out by teams around us not winning, but we can’t keep on doing that, we’re going to get found out soon enough. I hope it’s not this weekend.
Right then, it’d be a bit of waste of time predicting teams right now, but I’m sure our resident offside Burnley man will sort you out in that respect, I’m leaving you in good hands. So all that leaves me to do is wish you all a good week, I hope you have a cracker, and I’ll be back on Sunday with Highlights and a review!

What a time to go to the beach! I hope you have a good time, sounds like you need a break from it with the economic crisis and horrible hours you work. I was considering applying to write for The Offside a few weeks back to plug in the few gaps you might not read about but thought better of it. Would’ve come in handy this week though eh?
You had me worried thinking that the game was midweek and I could go to it (why do they put footie matches on valentines day?!) but I suppose Turf Poor isn’t high on my list of favourite places anyway. Burnley took points off Brum last week and as much as I hope they don’t, they could well do the same to us. If Berra can train and gel this week I’m going for 2-1/2-0 us. If not then a draw unfortunately.

Thanks lads, I’ve worked every week end every weekend since my Birthday back in September, so the break is overdue. I’ll hopefully come back refreshed and powered up in a pac-man style.
It’s going to be a tough game no question, and on Valentine’s day to boot, I’m in Cardiff the day England play Wales in the Rugby…oh fff

what you do for love eh toby!? wishing you the best of the wind-swept / sleety welsh beaches.
its come to that moment in the season *and as it was past seasons* that im not quite sure how wolves will do. earlier i was predicting constant wins but i just dont know what to think. we could demolish them as punishment to our bad form or continue to slide. 2-1 to us. the opening a screamer from jarvis

No offence Football Rumours but we’ve heard all about Kights, SEB and Henners leaving all before. I was guaranteed by some people Hennesey would be an Arsenal player in the Jan window as well as SEB leaving and not even one peep of it.
Also, the article on your website just sounds like it was written by someone with too much time on their hands looking to cause a fuss over unconfirmed rumours. Why if a club goes the the premiership would the players leave the premiership club and go to another smaller premiership club? Wigan and the likes are smaller clubs than us in tha bigger picture, despite the league table.

i keep checking back too sam- force of habit i spose. also does anyone think lately 606 is full of doom mongerers and people slating keogh, i much prefer it here now.
As for the game this is thhe biggest of the season (say that every week now)especially as birmingham have a winable game and reading dont play, so it would be nice to get some breathing space. however burnly are a good cup tie side esp at home and i fear that this game could turn into a cup type game in which case they are going to be very hard to beat. in truth although we really need a win (especially an away one when was the last one of those) id actually be really happy with a point.

Lads?!
I’ll have you know Big Jim is a girls name! Hope you’ve been having a good time Toby. Hopefully Wolves give us a good valentines day present today… I’m nervous thinking we could only be 4/5 points ahead of Reading with them having 2 games in hand if we fail to win today.
