Wolves Launch New Kit
By: Matt | May 2nd, 2008
Wolves officially launched their new kit today after showing it off at the end of season awards ceremony last night. The dodgy unofficial photo of the kit doing the rounds a few days prior to the official launch turned out to be accurate. So it also probable that our new away kit, soon to be launched, will be black, with fluorescent yellow piping. The club have signed a two-year, seven-figure sponsorship deal with Le Coq Sportif who have produced Wolves’ strips for the past four years. I was a little disappointed that Wolves didn’t announce a new kit manufacturer. In fact, in my house LCS are known as Le Crap Sportif. In my opinion the fit and quality of the shirts over the last few years have been poor. I bought my normal ‘large’ size in the last home kit, which was much too big for me (i.e my children used it as an indoor play tent), so last year I bought the new third kit in a medium, which was still too big. I think I may buy the latest kit in a large boys size. They must feed ‘em up well in Wolverhampton.
The verdict? It’s ok. Just about. However, if there is one thing I want in life more than anything, it’s a Wolves kit consisting of plain old gold shirt with a black collar and cuffs, plain black shorts and old gold socks. Take the black from this top and it would be nearly perfect. Simple and stylish. Maybe one day…but I won’t hold my breath. Wolves also announced that from now on we will now have a new home and away kit every season, so I live in hope for next May. However, if Wolves are wearing this kit in the Premiership next season, you won’t find me complaining.

Its okay, just uninspired. Maybe thats the sponser looking so bland though.

I agree, the new kit is ok but could be better. It looks a little if they’ve just coloured inbetween the piping of last season’s kit! You’re right, the last kit was an awful fit. I’m was hoping for Nike or Umbro

Rob – I like the fact that the sponsor’s name is so bland. Plain black writing which doesn’t ruin the shirt. I’d pay extra for a shirt with a sponsor!

Definitely an improvement over last year’s kit. The shape was so weird, you almost couldn’t tell the back from the front.
But still don’t like the design of Chaucer’s logo. Kind of timid. I’d take Goodyear back in a heartbeat. But not Doritos. That just looked silly.

Doritos. Shudder. A fine example of how a sponsor’s logo can ruin a kit. Not quite as bad as the Wolf’s Head monstrosity but nearly.
