Wolves FA Cup Comeback Highlights

By: Daryl | January 8th, 2008

[via 101 Great Goals]

Here’s how Wolves nearly got dumped out of the FA Cup by a non-league team. It’s a good job Neil Collins redeemed himself because the way he lost possession before giving away the penalty was absolutely atrocious. Worse than giving away the penalty in fact, because at least the handball was a little unlucky. Trying to play that pass with a striker around was just plain stupid.

Great goal from Kightly and great cross for Collins’ winner, and nice to see Mick McCarthy looking as [ahem] charismatic as ever on TV.

Speaking of which: Very, very weird to see Wolves on Match of the Day. It only just occurred to while watching this that Wolves single sad season in the Premiership came during the dark days of ITV having Premiership highlights. The geniuses at Britain’s worst TV station imaginatively titled the show “The Premiership,” but it was basically just Match of the Day with analysis so simplified that even my dog felt patronised. And commercials. No wonder it didn’t last long.

So for everyone who complains about Match of the Day and Alan Shearer’s dour punditry, just remember what the alternative is and quiet down a bit.

Not good to see Michael Kightly get bigged up on MotD though. Good for him obviously (he deserves all the praise he gets after turning defeat into victory) but bad news for Wolves with the January transfer window being wide open.

Daryl, I gotta say, the only thing I don’t like about your blog is that before, when I wanted to visit WCB, I would type “wo” into my url bar and the first history-suggestion-thing that appeared under it was WCB, but now it’s this blog. Now, I have to type “wor” to get what I want. Shame on you for bringing about such hardships.
