We can rebuild him — we have the technology

The level of public sympathy which Matt Murray has received over the last few days has been heartening, I thought at the time when writing this article here that I could be working on a write up of the big man’s career, little did I know that yet another injury would take him out of the game. Early reports say it’ll be about a year. This doesn’t surprise me at all. He’s injured a different knee if that’s anything to take heart in; if it was his left again I think he would have called it a day. He’s torn a patella tendon which is particularly nasty, he’ll need that year just to let his body and mind recover.
Who knows, we might be welcoming big Matt back with Premiership football by then? Or he could help us get to the Promised Land again one more time in the future. There’s something about him which makes me hope he doesn’t give up, he’s such a big strong guy, I want him to beat this and come back stronger, though the chances of that seem like they’re diminishing I know that as long as he wants to keep fighting there’s still a chance he’ll put on that huge number one jersey one last time.
