Michael Mancienne
By: Toby | October 29th, 2008Great bit of transfer work here in aquiring Michael Mancienne till Christmas.
Mick gave him a quick run out last night, a good ten/fifteen minutes, which I’m pretty sure this was due to the lateness of his arrival from Chelsea. I’m sure that he’ll be pushing for a starting place almost certainly in the future. He was asked to play on the left, and to try and shackle Gomez for the last ten, which he did with cool confidence as Wolves were happy to see out the rest of the game.
Having seen Mancienne play in the England U-21s down at Villa Park not too long ago I can tell you he’s a sharp and intelligent player and one of the genuine class acts that night, not the biggest, but a reader of the game. In that game he wasn’t afraid to push forward either. Mick could use him as a Centre half or right back, I think he’s versatile enough. I think it shows good transfer dealings by Mick and the board in getting him in, even if some people of dubious intelligent seem to think this move is in part of a massive conspiracy seeing our very own fifteen year old wunderkind Zele Ismail going the other way at some point.
Which is hard to believe, but that ill informed transfer gossip may well liven up your Wednesday.
