Fix up, look sharp.

Oh dear, this may as well be subtitled why have Wolves gone wonky part two as I feel I’ve already addressed this matter before, but as it is the problems are still ongoing and as the weeks go by the situation starts to get a wee bit more desperate. Of course it doesn’t help when your manager comes out and says himself that “we’ve become desperate”, it means it doesn’t really leave me with much room to say “hey guys, it’s gonna be alright, don’t worry, dry those eyes, at least big Mick thinks we can…..oh”. Mick’s not quite thrown in the towel yet, however he’s already started to make excuses for his squad. Which is worrying.

Now I’m all for settling the lads down after our utterly abysmal run of late, which now runs into one win in the league since the 20th of DECEMBER, yes, you read that right, that’s two months, that’s just made me loosen my collar slightly because I hadn’t been thinking in calendar terms. As my new friends down in Cardiff would say, and quite rightly, we’ve really shit the bed on this one. Wolves were in a cracking position pre Christmas, 7 points clear, we were laughing. Now, I don’t know what’s happened, be it a Christmas hangover of epic proportions or games not going our way we now find ourselves 3 points clear of Birmingham, who are a game away from pulling level on points, with only our superior goal difference keeping us ahead of them. Reading, if they win their games will top trump us both and replace us in first. (These are all worst case scenarios I know….but they’re fast becoming the most likely outcome).

So where do we go from here? Well, in a quite literal sense, Cardiff. Well, they come to us to be precise. My goodness I’m not looking forward to that game. We realistically have to win, we realistically on current form won’t. It’s that simple, we’ve been dire for a long time and they’ve been playing very, very well. Those two facts come together to say that our run of loses could well be extended further. But hey, football is football, we’re all fans of the game and we know that upsets in form happen every week, and we know that Wolves have it in them to win games.

So I propose, that instead of looking for excuses for the players, Mick should be riling them up. We’re in the best position to gain automatic promotion from this league that we’ve had in a very long while, rather than dwell on our recent form or indeed rest on the laurels of our early season form we should get out and start a fresh. Stay with me for a moment here, say we win on Sunday, that’d be a massive boost for the team, we could take that and build on the result to attempt to get a run together. Hell, if we win every game before we play Birmingham again we could have gone on another unprecedented 7 game winning streak. Imagine that? There’s no reason as to why we can’t do it, we’ve got the same players, even some new faces which are better than the old ones, there’s every reason why we can go out there every game and fight and come away with the result. So, to celebrate this new bull dog spirit which I’ll be adopting for the next few months, I’ve bastardised one of the best motivational speeches in recent history. I’m sorry for the cliché.

Even though large tracts of The Championship and many old and famous sides have fallen or may fall into the grip of Relegation and all the odious apparatus of administration, we shall not flag or fail.
We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in Molineux,
we shall fight on the pitches,
we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our goal line, whatever the cost may be,
we shall fight at Selhurst Park,
we shall fight at Hillsborough Stadium,
we shall fight at the City Ground, Oakwell and at St Andrews,
we shall fight at Pride Park;
we shall never surrender!

Come on the lads!

Tarra-a-bit!

Ah PS.

Murray update, asked him if he’d like to do anything with the site, but I’ve got it on good account he got a bit embarrassed and said he’d have nothing interesting to say. So there we go, it kind of makes me love him a little bit more, but there will be no interview type thing on it’s way, ah well, I tried for you guys. I’ve been promised a signiture though, makes me feel ten again.

I hope your face was shining bright red for your speech at the end! At least on Sunday the boys will know how desperate they need the win if Blouse and Reading win. Also, that ‘desperate’ article on the BBC annoyed me with that headline – McCarthy said we were desperate to get to the Premiership, but we were desperate to get there on day 1 of the season too so it was out of context I feel. Really want to beat Dave Jones!

maybe you should go into the dressing room and say that to the guys before they go on, made me feel like i could score a hat trick!
I don’t even know where to start / think about wolves atm. My xpert eleven team won 8-5, that is literally the best thing that has happened today.

Did you enjoy your Cardiff visit, Toby? Did you take in any night spots/pubs/Brains beer, and where did you meet the group of City fans you mentioned? We’re growing in numbers throughout the city by season! I’d say best of luck for Sunday, but obviously that would be a lie.

Well hopefully their week in Spain might have cheered them up a bit, I only had 4 days in Cardiff and it did me wonders for having a break.

I don’t know, is it not just time to go, hold on, let’s play the team that was destroying the Championship, starting with Iwelumo and Ebanks, D Jones and Henry in midfield, Jarvis and Kites on the wing with Henners behind foley, ward and stearman…with one new face Berra, in that side I see goals and defensive assurance.

I think we’ve tinkered far too much lately, and it’s really bitten us in the arse of late.

At Watford we had the exact same line up as we did against Plymouth at the start of the season, except Elokobi/Reid.

Read into that what you will…

I’m universally clutching at straws all over the metaphorical shop lately.

i think we are all getting to that stage of wondering just what went / is going wrong. there seems no sense to it. just a few defeats has created a sense of no confidence and highlighting individual mistakes.
i really don’t understand why we aren’t using the wings more though. you can put two defenders on kites or jarvis and 9/10 times they’ll beat them down the line.

i think as wolves fans are are doomed to have these blips and constant self doubt. what have we done to the football gods?
