Wolves 1 – 0 Nottingham Forest…Let’s take this a game at a time.

By: Toby | March 21st, 2009

Six games to go, five points clear of Birmingham, nine points clear of Reading at best, at worst, we lie six points clear of third place. If anything, Cardiff are now more of a worry than Reading are. We did our job, from what I’ve heard a hard earned three points away from home against a team who are fighting tooth and nail for survival.

Obviously as you all know I’ve been away, I didn’t even get to listen to the game this Saturday, which I can tell you was utter hell, I was texting my da at one point every three minutes demanding live commentary, when Kightly scored everyone on the coach back to Birmingham knew about it. So, as a write up would be a bit silly, here’s what Mick has to say on the game -

“We’re a million miles away (from promotion), let me tell you, but we’ve won this and we’ll enjoy it.
“It’s not been a great game, but it’s just a matter of getting the points.
“We set off with an attacking team and we put substitutes on and we got the goal that mattered. It’s a nice feeling to have time off now having won.”

I think he sums up every Wolves fans’ afternoon nicely there, and if anything what with Birmingham and Reading only limping to a draw against Norwich and Crystal Palace respectively the afternoon ended almost perfectly, I mean ideally they’d have both lost but you can’t always get everything going your own way now can you?

Elsewhere since I’ve been away we’ve been linked with a loan move for Marlon Harewood till the end of the season, which I don’t think would be too bad at all. I mean sure, at times for Aston Villa he’s looked like he can’t hit a cow’s arse with a banjo, but I think that’s mainly due to their style of play, I’m sure when playing as one of two standard attackers he’d run rampant in the Championship, definitely a good move with a few games to go, check this link out for reasoning behind that argument.

So there we are, Wolves now take a break until the 6th of April, which of course will be the big one against the Blues, I’ll be updating this place in the meantime with build up, so keep checking back, I’ll also be running another live blog, hopefully with a live match feed, as it’ll be on sky. So we’ll see how that pans out.

But for now, check out that beautiful league table, stop doing your mental football maths for a while and have a tinny or two on me, I’ll have the highlights up for you tomorrow!

Tarra-a-bit!

    Here we go…….let me guess
    were not there yet.
remember what happened that other time we were top.
    were not playing well.

Any more guys before I say………….Were up I tells ya!
clean sheet, 5 points clear, Jarvis back in time for the bham game, Harewood may have signed, bham and reading are poor, poor, poor, the bookies have us 7/2 on to win it let alone go up, were really 6 points clear of bham because of our goal difference, there is only 5 games left in reality as reading play bham last game of the season and they wont both get past us.
Please, please, can just one of you join me. If you look hard, im the guy in the Wolves shirt on his way to Old Trafford, Anfield and the rest.

    Happy Days

Ah it’s ingrained into me to be pessamistic, I’m pretty sure only if we win all our games and are 3-0 up against Donny in the last ten minutes will I start to peek out between my fingers and start celebrating.

But you’ve raised a point I forgot to! Another clean sheet, which is fantastic! One goal conceeded in five, pretty sweet to be honest. When you consider in the same amout of games Reading have conceeded five goals in five games.

Mike’s been saying it all the time and I’m starting to believe it now, all the others around us are hitting the panic button but we are just getting on with it.

I said in the eighties, and we’re one more win away from them. If that win comes against Birmingham I’ll be certain we’re finishing in the top 2! Winning the league isn’t important until we’ve cemented a top 2 finish! When do Donny tickets go on sale…?

Do I sence a tinge of…… we might actually do it! From you guys. It brings a tear to my eye!!
They could not catch us when it was one win from 11 games or whatever it was, how are they gonna catch us with six games left? They are not.
Champions ………..just saying it makes me feel good.
Who is going up with us I ask you, and has any one else got a sneeky feeling it might be Cardiff?

I was never too down in the dumps ever Mike I thank-you very much! Been in Scotland and ‘off’ football for a while after the Man City/West Brom debacle years ago maybe shielded me from some of the near misses. I’ve been trying to look at it like a neutral would, and neutrals would say we’re surely up! As confident as I am of us finishing in the top 2 your confidence is something else!

“If anything, Cardiff are now more of a worry than Reading are”. I’ve never written *lol* in a non-mocking, non-ironic context before, but there’s a first time for everything… (not a criticism of your judgement, more a reflection of yet another end-of-season collapse)
