Steve Bull for Stafford

By: Daryl | February 13th, 2008

I remember when the chant used to be “Steve Bull for England,” but suppose that was a long time ago now. Another century, if you want to put it dramatically. Now the legend himself is in the running for the managers job at Stafford Rangers.

Not exactly the big time, but it’s a start. Bully’s long stated ambition is to be a striker coach at Molineux, a job that should have been his the second he retired at Wolves. I remember being all angry that they didn’t offer him a proper coaching job the first time round, just a sad “ambassador” role, which basically meant turning up at supermarkets to do Wolves PR work for them. A shoddy way to treat a man who literally saved the club from disaster.

As usual, Wolves are struggling for goals, and I can’t help remembering how that never seemed to happen when Bully was around. He’s 42 now (time flies, and it dawned on me how old the man was when I couldn’t find a decent quality image of him on the internets) but I’d still pick him ahead of Stephen Elliot.
